Write It Anyway Contest
Give yourself permission to write the piece you’ve been postponing.
Lately, the room has felt heavy, and we want to change that.
Somewhere along the way, it feels like we forgot why we started writing in the first place.
So this is an invitation to return to it.
We’re launching a writing contest, not just about writing, but about what writing means to you.
Something that feels bigger than competition.
A space where different voices can exist side by side, without needing to speak the same language to be understood.
We’re opening submissions across three genres: fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.
Each category will have someone who understands the form from the inside.
Non-fiction will be read by imi
Fiction will be read by Stefan Pasek
Poetry will be read by PancakeSushi
Submissions will be reviewed within their own genre, and together, we’ll select the pieces that carry something undeniable.
Not just technically strong, but alive.
Each selected piece will also be accompanied by a brief reflection from its reader, offering insight into what made it stand out.
The selected works won’t simply “win.”
They will come together as a curated magazine issue, published through my (imi’s) newsletter as a one-time collective piece.
A snapshot of a moment.
A shared mood.
A community of voices speaking at once.
Prompt:
Tell the story your voice has been trying to write.
Word Count: 750 words
Submissions will be closed on 1 May
Winners will be announced on 12 May
Magazine will be published on 15 May
Submission Guidelines:
To be considered, please make sure you are subscribed to all judges.
Send your work via DM to the judge of your chosen genre, so each piece is received and read within the right space
